Ballater Duck Festival

Ballater Ducks

The Ballater Ducks, ready for action!

Ballater Community Trust is holding its annual Ballater Duck Festival on 1 June, and Forget Me Not Club will be there!! Come along and enjoy all the fun, games and duck themed activities, and stop off at the Forget Me Not Club stall while you're there, of course!

From ballatercommunitytrust.co.uk :-

The first duck race in Ballater, until then more famous for its futret racing, was held in the 1990s when the race grew so out of control the army had to be called in.

Since 2010 there has been some form of duck racing in different forms, culminating in this spectacle of 12 8ft Chinese fighting ducks racing for your honour.

  • From 11am there will be stalls, local food producers and activities for children.
  • At 3pm, 12 giant ducks will be launched upstream and will ‘race’ down the River Dee to the bridge; the first duck under the bridge will be declared the winner.
  • Odds depend on the number of tickets sold for each duck and are calculated immediately before the duck race starts at 3pm (when Tote closes). Each duck has an equal chance of winning.
  • You must be over 16 to purchase a ticket.
Tote will re-open at 3.30pm for an hour to pay punters holding tickets for the winning duck number (tickets must be presented)
